(61) Piergiorgio Frassati Trail

(61) Piergiorgio Frassati Trail

Trail dedicated to Piergiorgio, a great mountain lover. One of the most beautiful trails in the Maira valley.

One of the most beautiful circular routes in the valley starts from Sorgenti del Maira: it is the Piergiorgio Frassati trail. The walk begins with an ascent through the larch trees that soon leads to Lago Visaisa, located in a hollow. Continue along the path halfway up the hillside and then zigzag to the Bonelli bivouac, located above Lago Apzoi and below the majestic face of Mount Oronaye. After a lunch break, we continue in the direction of the Cavalla pass, proceeding along a very scenic plateau that flanks Lake Munie. From the pass, descend towards Grange Pausa and close the loop by returning to the Sorgenti.

Section suitable for families: from Maira headwaters to Visaisa lake.
