Stage 1 [52K – 2,350 m D+] is that of the escape from the mountains, in the footsteps of our ancestors who last century left the Maira or Macra valley, which is precisely synonymous with poverty, to seek their fortune on the plains or in the world. It is a stage that starts from the upper valley, i.e. the Marmora-Canosio basin, and arrives at its outlet on the Dronero plain, touching countless abandoned hamlets that are today beginning to have a second rebirth.
