Ascent: From the higher reaches of Borgata Chiosso, the route starts gently upwards across expansive meadows toward the Gias Vecchio Valley’s end. Crossing the stream by the water intake, the path continues on the valley’s right side, offering smoother terrain. It leads to Grangia Chiotrosiere at 1880 metres, connecting with the summer trail. The route, meandering through a larch forest, skirts several minor valleys before arriving at a scenic plateau at 2256 metres, home to a seasonal pasture.
To approach the upper valley, find the steep channel on the amphitheatre’s left side, around 2489 metres, leading up to Piano del Vallone at 2611 metres near Fonte Nera. The trail then heads south, aiming for Mount Chersogno’s noticeable NW gully. Navigating with care, the path reaches the SE pass of Chersogno. From here, the wide ridge, increasingly narrow and flat, leads to Mount Chersogno’s panoramic peak at 3024 metres.
Descent: Retrace your steps back down the ascent path, paying particular attention when passing the lower section of Piano del Vallone at 2489 metres. Aim right of the amphitheatre, targeting the slight depression around 2427 metres.
