Mount Birrone with snowshoes
Mount Birrone (2131 m), between the Maira and Varaita valleys, stands clearly visible from the plain and from its top you can enjoy a wonderful view of the lower valley.
Leaving the car at Chesta, the last village of the Pagliero valley, take the dirt road, which, with a gradual climb leads to the Birrone hill, a first point definitely panoramic. From here continue on the ridge to the top. A simple path, great to know a little-frequented corner of the valley.
Follow the Maira Valley to San Damiano Macra and turn right to Pagliero. Follow the road to Chesta.
