Rombo di Stroppia Crag

Rombo di Stroppia Crag

Definitely one of the most interesting and wildest crags in the valley. The rock is an excellent, very varied limestone that gives an athletic but also technical style of climbing. Mostly climbing on vertical walls with short bombé, while the first few meters are often on slab. Very long and satisfying pitches. Great work by bolter Flavio Parussa for this high mountain crag.

The approach is not immediate (about 1 hour from the car) but really worth it. East exposure and elevation of 2100 mt. but beware, on summer days the sun beats hard here and it is preferable to wait until 12 noon to climb when the sun is gone.
Excellent bolting and even pitches in the proposed grade. We find about 16 pitches (some of two lengths) up to 40 mt.(!!) with difficulties from 5c to 7b.

Access from the parking lot near Rifugio Campo Base (an excellent foothold) first on a dirt road until taking the Dino Icardi trail that climbs in the direction of Rifugio Stroppia. Just before the rocky rampart over which the trail climbs, with the imposing Stroppia Waterfalls drop on the left, take a track that shortly leads to the cliff.
First-rate views of the Castello-Provenzale Group, which is directly opposite the crag.
