Boulder Ciciu del Villar

Boulder area within the Ciciu del Villar Nature Reserve.
Dutiful preamble: stick to climbing on the ONLY boulders suggested by the guides and topo on the web or available for purchase at the entrance to the reserve (admission and/or annual membership fee). NO climbing is allowed on the Ciciu (erosion columns).
The area is very interesting because of the concentration of blocks and climbing styles. They range from purely overhanging boulders, to vertical technical walls and ending on hyper delicate slabs where footwork technique is essential. The rock is a very compact and really abrasive occhiadine gneiss.
This spot is located within a beautiful forest and it is possible to climb even in midsummer because many of the blocks are in the shade. Suggested grades range from 4 to 8a+ for about 20 boulders (some huge) scattered throughout the forest.
Access: once you enter the reserve, 30 meters after the ticket office, go up to the left just after the park ranger’s house (indicative sign) and in a few minutes you reach the boulder area.
