Le Marmotte, a nest to return to

From a place to spend the holidays, to a home.
In Acceglio, Alessandro and Annalisa run the Albergo le Marmotte: a nest from which to take flight and discover the beauty of the Maira Valley.
Alessandro first came to the Maira Valley as a young boy, on holiday with his parents: a colleague of his father’s was originally from Acceglio and that summer they decided to go and visit him.
It was love at first sight, so much so that his father, together with some partners, took over a small hotel for sale: Le Marmotte.
For Alessandro it became the commitment of all future holidays, especially since he met her, Annalisa. Like him raised in Lombardy, she returned to Acceglio every year to her grandmother’s family home.
As they grew up, they became a solid, close-knit couple, and when the family and partners wanted to retire from the business, Annalisa and Alessandro made a counter-current choice: they left the plains for good to take over Le Marmotte and make it their refuge and their work. A special place, where guests, just like birds in the nest, leave their comfortable rooms to go and explore the beauty of the Maira Valley. On their return they are greeted with a lovingly cooked meal, accompanied by quality wines and conversation.
A cosy place to meet in the evening to recount the day’s discoveries and gather tips for enjoying the next trip. And when you close the room shutters, stop for a moment to look at the stars, which seem brighter here.
Alessandro lovingly takes care of the kitchen. He carefully chooses local suppliers, so that he can offer a local cuisine that follows the rhythm of the seasons.
Annalisa has brought many small treasures recovered from her grandmother’s house into the hotel, so that the hotel is almost a museum of mountain life: simple, industrious and hospitable.
In this hotel there are many customers who, like Alessandro, return year after year, to find the same gentle and discreet presence each time.
Always certain to discover something new about this valley that never ceases to surprise.
